INTRODUCTION

TO INDUSTRIAL PVF

Most people don’t think about pipes, valves, or fittings until something stops working. That’s kind of the point. They’re always there, doing their job quietly in the background. This book takes that hidden system and brings it forward in a way that finally makes sense. It’s not written like a manual. It’s written from experience, the kind you only get after years of figuring things out the hard way.

James Kemp

James Kemp didn’t start out with a clear path into this industry. Like a lot of people, he kind of fell into it and learned by doing.

In his early twenties, he was working at a startup, handling whatever needed to be done, warehouse setup, deliveries, the kind of work where you just figure things out as you go. That experience turned into something bigger over time.

Across 47 years, he built a career that covered almost every side of the PVF industry. He worked in sales, managed operations, and eventually ran his own supply house for twenty years. Along the way, he developed a strong understanding of how systems work, not just technically, but practically.

Now, through Kemp Consulting LLC, he helps companies improve how they operate and make better decisions around procurement and compliance.

This book feels like a continuation of that work. It’s not theory. It’s everything he’s learned, written in a way that actually helps someone else understand it faster.

Introduction To Industrial PVF

This book came out of a problem that almost everyone in the PVF industry runs into at some point. You’re expected to understand things quickly, but no one really gives you one place to learn it properly.

Introduction to Industrial Pipe, Valves, and Fittings tries to fix that. It pulls together the basics in a way that actually feels usable, not scattered across different catalogs or overly technical explanations that don’t connect.

It walks through what PVF really is and how it shows up in real industries like oil and gas, food processing, and manufacturing. But more than that, it explains how the pieces work together. Pipes carry, valves control, fittings connect, but understanding how and why they do that is where things start to click.

If you’re new, it gives you a starting point. If you’ve been around a while, it fills in gaps you probably didn’t even realize were there.
